There is one area associated with astrology that often inhibits people from considering its use: fate versus free will.
As astrology evolved over the past several thousand years, its approach has shifted from being predominantly fatalistic to being predominantly free will. In the distant past, astrological readings would be conveyed as specific events happening at specific times as well as a person having a blessed or a cursed birth chart.
Today in Western astrology, there is pretty much universal agreement by astrologers that the birth chart describes the energies in play during a person’s lifetime – and importantly – it is the person’s choice (free will) to use these energies in ways that ranges from being constructive to being destructive. Thus, there is no such thing as a good or a bad natal chart. What makes the difference is how a person chooses to direct their particular combination of energies, in ways that are helpful or not helpful.
As an example, suppose within a person’s natal chart we have Mars
in Aries
in the 6th house. Mars
is the energy a person has that goes out and does things and gets things done. Aries
gives Mars
an energy that is very adventurous, pioneering, self sufficient, quick to react and impulsive. The 6th house represents everyday routines and habits among other things. So when a person with Mars
in Aries
in the 6th house is using these energies well, the person may be the one who can respond very well to workplace (6th house) crises
by quickly coming up with and implementing solutions that are bold
. When these same energies are not being used well, this could show up as a person in the workplace (6th house) routinely making quick decisions without getting other people involved
and then aggressively pushing these decisions on people without regard to their feelings
.
The important thing in the above example is that the person has a set of energies and chooses to use them in a particular way. The more unaware and unconscious a person is, the more likely that person will resort to autopilot often following family patterns. A person who is aware of these energies has a much better chance to use them consciously and constructively.
